About this scheme
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) International Scholarship provides financial support to outstanding students from developing countries for postgraduate studies abroad. It is highly competitive and awarded purely on the basis of financial need combined with academic excellence. The award comprises a 50% grant and a 50% soft loan component that is interest-free and repayable after completion of studies.
Eligibility
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen with demonstrated financial need and academic excellence
- Age: Must be a young professional, typically under 30 years of age at the time of application
- Admission: Must hold an unconditional admission offer from a recognized foreign university for a full-time postgraduate (Master's) programme
- Field of study: Preference given to candidates in development-related fields such as health, education, rural development, natural resources, civil society, architecture, and economics
- Funding status: Must not be eligible for full funding from the host country or institution
