About this scheme
The BANRF is a Maharashtra Government fellowship implemented by BARTI to support Scheduled Caste (SC) scholars pursuing full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. research. The scheme provides financial assistance to promote advanced research among SC candidates domiciled in Maharashtra.
Eligibility
- Caste category: Must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
- Domicile: Must be a domicile of Maharashtra
- Educational qualification: Must hold a Postgraduate degree from a recognized institution
- Program enrolment: Must be registered for a regular, full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. program
- Annual family income: Must not exceed ₹8,00,000
- Exclusion: Candidates receiving other fellowships or in full-time employment are ineligible
Benefits
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF, years 1–2): ₹31,000/month + ₹20,000/year contingency grant
- Senior Research Fellowship (SRF, years 3–5): ₹35,000/month + ₹20,000/year contingency grant
- Applicable to PhD scholars registered at recognised Indian universities
