About this scheme
The Gaon Ki Beti Yojana (Daughter of the Village Scheme) is a Madhya Pradesh government initiative launched in 2005 to encourage higher education among talented girls from rural areas. Under this scheme, girl students who have passed Class 12 with 60% or more marks and are enrolled in undergraduate courses at government or private colleges/universities receive financial assistance of ₹500 per month for 10 academic months, totaling ₹5,000 per year. For students pursuing technical or medical education, the amount is ₹750 per month (₹7,500 per year). The scheme covers all categories (General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS) and is an incentive scheme, meaning beneficiaries can also avail other scholarships simultaneously.
Eligibility
- Domicile: Must be a resident of a rural area (village) in Madhya Pradesh — village domicile proof required
- Gender: Female students only
- Academic qualification: Must have secured 60% or more marks in Class 12 examination from a village school
- Current enrolment: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme at a recognized government or private college/university in Madhya Pradesh
- Category: Open to all categories — General, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS
- Residency: Must possess a valid 'Gaon Ki Beti' certificate (village girl certificate) from the Gram Panchayat
